Personal Data Breach Awareness

A personal data breach means a breach of security leading to the accidental or unlawful destruction, loss, alteration, unauthorised disclosure of, or access to, personal data.

We ask that all students inform the University’s Data Protection Officer if they become aware of any data breach or incident involving personal information processed (held) by the University. We rely on staff and students reporting these incidents at the earliest opportunity so we can put any measures in place to contain the incident and act accordingly and responsibly.

Changes Being Made to the National Student Survey

The Office for Students (OfS) have published their response to the recent consultation on changes to the National Student Survey (NSS) for 2022-23. You can read a general overview and full analysis of the consultation by following the links here

Our internal module and course evaluation survey, LOOP, will be updated to mirror the revised question set and will be promoted to students to complete between Monday 14 and Friday 25 November 2022.

Timetabling Drop-in Sessions

The Scheduling team will be running a series of drop-in sessions for both staff and students as we are keen to ensure that any ongoing timetabling issues can be addressed and resolved.

From Monday 7 to Friday 11 November, 9.00am to 1.00pm, we will be based at the Advice Zone in Treforest, Glyntaff, Newport and Cardiff.

In the meantime, if you have any questions about your timetable, please check on UniLife for some quick troubleshooting tips and contact details if you need to raise a query.

Rail Services Affected Next Week Due to Planned Industrial Action

Rail providers are advising that a number of routes will not be running next week due to planned industrial action.

Rail services will be affected on Saturday 5 November, Monday 7 November, and Wednesday 9 November. Rail providers have also warned that services will be impacted on the days in between and after strike days.

Students travelling to our campuses by rail on the above dates are advised to look at alternative travel routes.
