All students | USW Update | Tuesday 7 July

Here’s to the Class of 2020! A virtual celebration this July | Professor Martin Steggall, Pro Vice-Chancellor for Research and Student Experience

We are delighted to share our plans for a virtual celebration for the 5000+ students graduating this summer.

This exciting programme of online activity is in no way a replacement for the formal graduation ceremony, which you will still have at a later date when social distancing measures sufficiently ease.  This will instead be an additional way to celebrate your achievements and resilience, demonstrating USW’s immense pride in each and every one of you, particularly given the sudden end to your on-campus experience in March.

The online celebrations will start on Monday 27 July and will run for five days. They will include a series of interactive daytime social media events, competitions and Facebook Live events hosted on behalf of each School.

Expect video messages, a virtual yearbook, DIY graduation caps and much more!

Here’s where you come in!

We are asking all students to create a short video – no more than 30 seconds long, in landscape format - to congratulate your friends on their success or share a memorable moment from the last year. If you have a message you would like to share, please upload these to social media with the hashtag #USWClassof2020 and we will reshare as many as we can.

We hope these virtual celebrations are a fitting tribute to the hard work and dedication that has been displayed by all USW students and staff during this academic year.
