The University of South Wales and Music Declares Emergency are launching Wales’s first Future Generations Climate Convention – a series of panels, keynote talks and showcase projects dedicated to empowering young people in climate discussions – in partnership with touring and sustainability consultancy, Soliphilia and with support from Creative Wales.

Its inspiring array of speakers includes poets, set designers, musicians –– and creative practitioners, showcasing a diverse programme and one-of-a-kind convention experience. Popular Cardiff artist Lemfreck, and Sandy Clubb, Involvement, Collaboration and Culture Advisor for the Office of the Future Generations Commissioner, are among the panellists.

The convention is taking place as part of Immersed Festival – a multimedia event curated by creative industries students at USW – to offer an exciting platform for dialogue, learning and showcasing innovative projects that highlight the breadth and depth of climate action and storytelling within the creative industries.

It aims to create direct pathways for young people to embed sustainable practices in their careers, shaping a greener and fairer future for Wales, embracing the festival’s Future Utopias theme.

Running parallel to the convention is a creative industries careers and networking fair, where exhibitors can showcase their work and offer work placements opportunities. The convention and careers fair are part of a wider programme of Immersed Festival fringe events from 29 February to 7 March, which includes screenings of short films and an Immersed TV broadcast, exhibitions, art installations, immersive theatre, a city centre mural, sustainable fashion projects and a live music showcase.
