A first year student studying Faculty of Life Sciences and Education, living in the Treforest halls of residence was admitted to hospital on 10th May 2016 with confirmed meningococcal meningitis/septicaemia.

Meningitis Booster/ ACWY Vaccinations

  • If you’re under 25 and a first year student, please make sure you’ve had a Meningitis booster vaccination.
  • Contact your GP to get the vaccination.
  • Please register with a GP near your term address if you haven’t already done so.
  • In addition, please register with the USW Health Service if you want to access healthcare on-campus. This is not the same as registering with a GP. Our Health Service can help you find a local GP to register with.

The Welsh Institute of Chiropractic (WIOC) clinic at the University of Glamorgan offers a range of services. Any new patients who book an appointment during February will be eligible for a free consultation, saving them £30.
