Approaching Deadlines for Suspension, Withdrawal and Extenuating Circumstances

Important deadlines are approaching for a number of courses within the Faculty of Life Sciences and Education.

Suspension and Withdrawal

The final date to submit Suspension of Studies and Withdrawal for courses listed below is 12:00 pm, Wednesday 1st August 2018.

If you are thinking of leaving or suspending your studies, whether for personal or academic reasons, we strongly recommend you discuss this decision with your Campus Advice Zones and your Course Leader. We may be able to provide you with guidance or support, which could help you to continue engaging in your studies.

If you have decided to withdraw from your course, please complete the Withdrawal form available from your Campus Advice Zones and ensure you have handed in your request with independent evidence to your Campus Advice Zones by 12:00 pm Wednesday 1st August 2018. If you are thinking of interrupting your studies by applying for Suspension of Studies, you must first make an appointment with your Campus Advice Zone. You are required to submit an application with supporting evidence by 12:00 pm Wednesday 1st August 2018. For full details about the Suspension of Studies process see here.

Extenuating Circumstances

The final date to submit Extenuating Circumstances claims for the 2017/18 academic session for courses listed below is 12:00 pm, Wednesday 15th August 2018.

If you wish to claim extenuating circumstances, claim forms and guidance notes are available from the Advice Zone Online:

  • Log in to Advice Zone Online via the login button on the Advice Zone Online information page
  • Type 'Extenuating Circumstances’ into the search box and select 'Search’
  • Select 'How do I apply for Extenuating Circumstances’ from the list
  • Please read the instructions carefully to request and apply for Extenuating Circumstances.

All claims must be made on the official extenuating circumstances form and must be supported by appropriate independent evidence. Incomplete claims or claims without evidence will not be accepted.
