Students’ Union: Introducing Your Exec Officer Team

July 9, 2018

Every year, four full-time Executive Officers are elected to represent USW students for the forthcoming academic year.

Full-time Exec Officers are USW students that have taken a year out of their studies or have recently graduated and are responsible for making high-level decisions for the Students’ Union.

This year’s Officer Team comprises of President Mishan Wick, who will have oversight of three Vice-Presidents: VP Education and Welfare (Cardiff and Newport) Niall O’Reilly, VP Student Activities, Rhys Pewtner and returning VP Education and Welfare (Pontypridd), Liam Powell.

In their roles, the Education and Welfare VPs will provide peer-to-peer support and advice to students and can offer representation at academic appeals or misconducts. The VP Student Activities will work closely with clubs and societies to improve provisions and activities.

The Officers begin their roles on 1st July 2018 and will remain in post until 1st July 2019. The Officers will split their time between the three campuses but are also contactable by telephone or email.

As well as representing the student body, each Officer has a manifesto (statement of intentions) which shapes their remit for the year ahead. You can read the Officer’s manifestos by visiting the Exec Officers’ profiles on the Students’ Union website.

Previous activities and campaigns delivered by Students’ Union Officers have included the Safe Taxi Scheme, Mental Health Awareness Week and Pet a Pooch.
