Electoral Registration Changes

October 15, 2014

Over the summer, there was a huge change to the way electoral registration happens.

Individual Electoral Registration (IER) is a new method of registering to vote. Every elector is now responsible for their own registration and will need to provide certain personal information- their date of birth, nationality details and National Insurance number- which will be checked to verify they are eligible to be included on the electoral register.

We are keen to get as many eligible students to register to vote as possible. Students are able to register both at their home and term-time addresses, as they spend 50% of time at each property, but can only vote once for each election.

There will be a Parliamentary Election in May 2015, which will decide the direction of UK government for the following five years. To be able to cast a vote at your university address for this election, you will need to be on the electoral register.

Registering to vote is quick and easy and can now be done online at www.gov.uk/register-to-vote.

Further information on IER can be found at www.gov.uk/yourvotematters.

Cofrestru Etholiadol Unigol

October 15, 2014

Cafwyd newid sylweddol i’r drefn gofrestru etholiadol dros yr haf.

Cofrestru Etholiadol Unigol yw’r dull newydd o gofrestru i bleidleisio. Bellach mae pob etholwr yn gyfrifol am ei gofrestriad ei hunain, a bydd angen iddynt roi gwybodaeth bersonol benodol – dyddiad geni, manylion cenedligrwydd a rhif Yswiriant Gwladol. Caiff y manylion hyn eu gwirio er mwyn cadarnhau eu bod yn gymwys i’w cynnwys ar y rhestr etholiadol.

Rydym yn awyddus i sicrhau bod cynifer o fyfyrwyr cymwys â phosibl wedi’u cofrestru i bleidleisio.

Cynhelir Etholiad Senedd y DU ym mis Mai 2015, a fydd yn penderfynu ar gyfeiriad llywodraeth y DU am y pum mlynedd ganlynol. Er mwyn gallu bwrw pleidlais yn eich cyfeiriad prifysgol yn yr etholiad hwn, bydd angen i chi fod ar y gofrestr etholiadol.

Mae cofrestru i bleidleisio yn broses cyflym a hawdd, a bellach gellir ei wneud ar-lein yn www.gov.uk/cofrestru-i-bleidleisio.

I gael rhagor o wybodaeth am Gofrestru Etholiadol Unigol ewch i www.gov.uk/gwybodaethamgofrestru.
