Remembrance Day 2014 at the University of South Wales

November 4, 2014

Remembrance Day is held on 11th November every year to mark the day that World War One ended in 1918. In the UK, there is a two minute silence to remember those who fell. In 2014 we also commemorate the 100th anniversary of the start of this terrible conflict, in which almost 1,000,000 British service personnel lost their lives.

This year three formal acts of remembrance will be held in the University, all on Tuesday 11th November at 10:50am:

  • in the Board Room at Caerleon
  • outside the Aneurin Bevan Building on Glyntaf
  • in the foyer of Ty Crawshay on Treforest Campus

There will be a brief ceremony, silence will be observed and a wreath of poppies will be laid. On Treforest Campus a group of singers from The Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama will perform a rendition of the hymn Abide With Me.
